Quality and service are Nordisk’s hallmarks. Members and clients can expect a high level of personal service, combining legal expertise, practical experience and commercial awareness. Nordisk is keenly aware that its members and clients often need instant answers, i.e., concise and accurate advice at short notice.

Nordisk manages all its cases right from the start to their conclusion, wherever the litigation takes place. Cases in Norway are handled directly by Nordisk’s own lawyers. If a case arises in a jurisdiction outside Norway, Nordisk’s in-house team will handle the claim and, where necessary, instruct foreign lawyers from Nordisk’s global network of correspondents. This network extends across all the major maritime jurisdictions and comprises carefully selected lawyers and maritime specialists with whom Nordisk has worked successfully for many years.

The highly specialised nature of the work and the quality and experience of its lawyers mean that Nordisk in practice serves as the “legal department” of many members or, where members have their own in-house counsel, as an additional source of legal expertise.

Nordisk is actively involved in a number of international organisations, including BIMCO, CMI and INTERTANKO, and frequently participates in the development of standard shipping-related contract forms, international clauses and conventions.
